BlendIt - Icon App Project
The goal for the app icon project was to create icons that helped to portray an app idea effectively. BlendIt is a smoothie app that is used to find recipes that fit the users needs. After doing research, it became apparent that there were 11 icons needed to create an effective app design. These icons are search, all recipes, home, favorites, profile, greens, protein, sweets, weight loss, energy, and detox. The goal for the icons was to create and smooth and flow design that depicted a smoothie. The icons are made out of curvy line designs for this reason. The colors used are vibrant colors such as green, pink, and orange. These represent fruit and health because those are key concepts when making smoothies. The use of black and white create contrast against the bright colors. When choosing fonts, Jumble, Palatino, and Brevia are beneficial because Jumble is very smooth and curvy therefore, being great for the logotype and headings. Palatino is a simple serif font that is good for subheadings and some body copy. Brevia is a light and calm sans-serif choice that did not compete with Jumble or Palatino. It is also simplistic, making it a great choice when reading labels. The use of additional shapes, curvy lines, and rounded edges help to create contrast and guide the eye through the design.
